Seasonal appreciation was seen in the value of the rupee as it gained on easy supply of dollar and the local currency may depict further strength in the coming days, money experts said.
High inflows of dollar by the overseas Pakistanis and foreign countries' aid for the Earthquake victims, boosted the rupee to recover its ground versus the dollar, they said.
The rupee also gained five paisa against the euro for buying and selling at Rs 72.00 and Rs 72.10, respectively.
In the world markets, the dollar shed its value versus the leading currencies on the negative economic report, they added.
INTERBANK RATES: The rupee did not show major change against the dollar in the interbank market for buying and selling at 59.71 and 59.73, respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee maintained upward trend and further improved its worth by five-paisa on selling side at Rs 59.95, while remained unchanged on buying side at Rs 59.85 in relation to the greenback in the local currency markets on Thursday.
According to the currency dealers, the dollar resumed trading at overnight closing rates of Rs 59.85 and Rs 60.00 as its buying and selling rates, respectively. The dollar slipped mainly on account of lacking interest on the part of buyers. At the end, the greenback was traded at Rs 59.95 on selling side while remained unchanged on buying side at Rs 59.85, the dealers added.
However, the local currency failed to maintain upward slide and lost its worth against the pound sterling. The pound's buying rate improved from Wednesday's closing rate of Rs 105.40 to Rs 105.60, while selling rate moved up from Rs 105.70 to Rs 105.90, the dealers added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee remained firm against the dollar at the currency exchange establishments of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Thursday.
The dollar opened at Rs 59.90 (buying) and Rs 60 (selling) against same previous rate. Ever-favorite greenback did not observe any further change in the second spell and closed at Rs 59.90 (buying) and Rs 60 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at Rs 105.30 (buying) and Rs 106 (selling) against same previous rate. It did not observe any further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 105.30 (buying) and Rs 106 (selling).
